The Front Bottoms rock The Ritz Raleigh on their ‘You Are Who You Hang Out With’ Tour

The Front Bottoms made a stop on their “you are who you hang out with” tour in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 7th, 2023. I was versed in some of their more popular releases, but was ready to hear more of their stuff! It was a sold out show, so the venue was filled to the brim with excited fans of all ages.
For the tail end of the tour, they had Slothrust (pronounced “sloth-rust”) opening for them. I had never heard of Slothrust beforehand but I was pleasantly surprised! I love going to shows with openers that I didn’t know anything about beforehand because I always leave with a new discography to dive into! They are an alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts that formed in 2010. They got the crowd hyped up and excited for The Front Bottoms with some of their hits like “Cranium” and “Crockpot!” They were a fantastic opener and I am excited to see what tours that join or headline themselves!
The Front Bottoms graced the stage after playing the entirety of Jimmy Buffet’s “Margaritaville.” The indie/alternative rock band started off their set playing “Emotional”, then played “West Virginia” and “Flashlight.” They kept the show going and kept the crowd jumping. You could FEEL the music throughout the entirety of the venue. Their lighting and visuals were so interesting and added so much to the show. In the middle of the show, they threw out a massive beach ball into the crowd. They played hits from their multiple albums, taking us back to different points of the near 20 years that they have been a band! They ended their show with an encore of ‘Lonely Eyes” and (my personal favorite) “Twin Size Mattress.”
They only have a few dates left of their fall 2023 tour, so make sure you snag tickets if you can! I am very excited to hear more from them soon and attend another one of their shows in the future!
