Jed Harrelson at George’s Majestic Lounge: Rainbow chasing, he’s seen plenty…and that’s not stopping him
MARCH 6TH 2024 | by LEAH CENTER
Jed Harrelson knows how to put on a show, especially for a Friday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the Texarkana native and his band recently returned to the historic venue, George’s Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, for a night full of rhythm and blues.
The crowd consisted of friends, family, and fans from near and far, all together and illuminated under the glittering mirror ball hanging above the dance floor. Following the zestful support band, Ozark Riviera, Jed Harrelson and his band came to the stage with a captivating energy.
One thing concertgoers can anticipate at these shows are setlists designed for dancing and notable saxophone solos by none other than Hunter Smith. The drums were played by Jack Dratch and the bass was played by Jon McGrath. Harrelson played a variety of fan favorites including, “Neighborhood Huss,” “Potential,” as well as “Keep It.” At one point in the evening, Harrelson introduced the crowd to his new single, ‘i cant do it’ and joked with the audience not to listen to it on the way to work, or they just may not show up.
In the same vein as discussed in our interview with Harrelson back in January, his grassroots efforts are evident in every aspect. At first glance of his merch table in the back of the room, there are t-shirts, koozies, and hats adorned with Jed Harrelson’s name. Upon a closer observation, there’s an iPad propped up playing a TikTok on a continuous loop showing the t-shirts and koozies were screen printed by Harrelson. Alongside the shirts and koozies, there are blazing orange camouflage trucker hats with “Jed Harrelson Texarkana, USA” embroidered across the front panel.
Between the merchandise and the commentary throughout the show, it’s clear how much pride Harrelson takes in his hometown as well as its foundations for him as an artist. Every aspect of the evening radiates with a passion and drive that is the most authentic tell of a hardworking musician. The crowd sings along with the songs, an experience that is objectively incredible to witness, especially for rising artists.
As the night comes to an end, Jed wraps up his set, only to immediately be called out for an encore before he and the band could even walk off the stage. Overall, the night was one to remember.
After the show, the crowd lingered and Harrelson thanked them for coming, giving time to each person who came up and visited with him. Though the show at George’s was over, there are still shows to go.
