Chappell Roan made a stop in Charlotte, NC on October 22nd, 2023. I was a new listener to her music, but was very excited to see her show! Each night of the tour had a different costume theme, Charlotte was space. There was so much glitter, sequins, silver, and astronauts in the crowd. It helped fuel my anticipation!

One of the most beautiful parts of her show was her openers. She has a tradition of inviting local drag queens to open her show! It was the first time I attended a drag show and it was so wonderful. Her openers were Buff Faye, Lolita Chanel, and Erica Chanel. They each had their own routines but interacted with the crowd and created a lovely and welcoming environment! I love that she has created this tradition because it is a fantastic way to support the local queer community and also she gives a percentage of her ticket sales to charities!

Roan started the show with “Femininomenon.” The crowd was ready from the moment she graced the stage, matching her energy. She moved into “Red Wine Supernova” and then followed with “After Midnight.” She has such a magical stage presence. She is so engaging with her fans and is constantly bouncing around the stage! She played more of her hits like “HOT TO GO” and “My Kink is Karma.” You can hear her inspirations throughout her music. Her midwest upbringing is sprinkled in her music and style. The best way I can describe her music is campy and just plain fun. The most important thing that she wants attendees to get out of her shows is to dress up, have fun, and be true to you! She ended the night with “Pink Pony Club.”

She’ll be joining Olivia Rodrigo on her GUTS tour, opening for 24 shows in North America! You definitely don’t want to miss a show in her headline tour this fall, but make sure you secure a ticket to see her next year, you definitely won't regret it! I’m excited to see where she goes in the future!
