Earlier this month, Cage the Elephant wrapped the first leg of their Neon Pill Tour in The Walmart AMP in Rogers, Arkansas.

Despite the summer heat and nearing twenty shows, Cage the Elephant gave a full-energy and passionate rock and roll concert. Lead vocalist, Matt Schulz “Rogers it’s been a long time. We missed you; we really did,” and their performance surely confirmed that sentiment.

Cage the Elephant equip themselves with a powerful formula that results in a fully immersed audience. Lead vocalist, Matt Schultz, and Rhythm Guitarist, Brad Schultz, equally carry an energy that kept the crowd on their toes all the way through the encore. Without exaggeration, the crowd was at the Schultz brothers’ fingertips the whole night. Perhaps it’s the connection people find with the band’s lyrics that garner such a tethered crowd, regardless of the reason, it was a sight to behold.

There’s a certain magic with a band like Cage the Elephant that brings people from all ages together. The was crowd full of excited attendees, but what I found a pleasant sight were the amount of young people with their parents or guardians. Several of the younger attendees were expressing their excitement because it was their first time attending a live concert.

Having not seen any tours prior, Cage the Elephant truly lived up to their long standing reputation of a rock and roll show worthy of attending. The setlist was a combination of songs from their newest album, Neon Pill, as well as songs from previous albums. Certainly, the night did not shy away from the nostalgia of past hits, as only three songs from Neon Pill were on the setlist for the night: Good Time, Neon Pill, and Rainbow. Nonetheless, the setlist was an enjoyable collection of some of the band’s more popular works including Come a Little Closer, Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked and Cigarette Daydreams.

Support for their show included the Willow Avalon, Bakar, as well as Young the Giant. Avalon opened the evening up with an excited spoonful of southern comfort. Bakar followed up with a relaxed and captivating set. Young the Giant brought great energy that got the crowd ready for Cage the Elephant. It was an evening full of great talent and an energetic crowd.
